Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Dentistry

Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Dentistr

Drs. Mr. and Mrs. Adetona, Owners, Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Dentistry

Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Dentistry (PAPPD) has served their community for years. However, when the owners noticed their facility was not being used to capacity, they considered the addition of an urgent care component.  They felt the new care component would further enhance their goal of providing state-of-the art pediatric medical and pediatric dental services for patients between the ages of 0 to 21. Owners, Drs. Mr. and Mrs. Adetona, attended medical and dental school in Nigeria. Dr. Olutola completed his pediatric residency at UT Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) and a Master of Public Health at UTHSC in Houston. Dr. Omolola completed her pediatric dentistry residency at UTHSCSA.

The PAPPD facility includes 16 rooms, each equipped with medical and dentistry equipment allowing them to be used for dual types of care.  Families can take advantage of scheduling their children’s medical and dental appointments in one day.

Originally started with the assistance of the UTSA Small Business Development Center (SBDC) back in 2011, PAPPD’s expansion included the SBDC’s guidance once again. David Baenziger, Senior Business Advisor assisted with their business plan to include the urgent care extension. They were able to obtain an SBA loan to move forward with the project. They also increased their staff and retained existing staff. The urgent care offers weekend hours and an ambulance service which can transport extremely ill patients to nearby hospitals for further treatment. PAPPD is the only pediatric medical and dental urgent care facility in the state of Texas. Their vision is to replicate their business model throughout San Antonio and Texas.

“David Baenziger was a great help in developing a unique business plan to fit our business model, which helped us obtain a business loan for the expansion project. David went above and beyond, and checked up on us during the building process.” – Drs. Mr. and Mrs. Adetona, Owners, Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Dentistry
