Client Spotlight: Drift Home Collection (New Braunfels)

Meet Nataliya Borener, owner of Drift Home Collection.

Nataliya Borener, owner of Drift Home Collection

With 10 years’ experience in Interior Design and a passion for international travel, Nataliya Borener started Drift Home Collection, a curated collection of handmade textiles and décor items from around the world.

“My first sourcing trip was to Morocco, where I learned firsthand about the tribes and women who create these beautiful rugs and textiles. I’m on the hunt for one of a kind pieces that have a unique story to tell. We traveled throughout the country, from the marketplace in Marrakech to the coastal and desert areas, to hand select a small batch of items.”

Moroccan rugs embrace a true form of art, passed down through generations of the Berber tribes. Each tribe has its own look and waving techniques.

“The level of craftsmanship is not found in most of the mass-produced items you see today. When you purchase a vintage tribal rug, you know you will never see another one like it again.” A portion if each purchase will go to charity. “Giving back to these artisans and being able to make a difference in people’s lives means everything to me.”

Client Assistance:

Nataliya visited the New Braunfels Satellite Office of the San Antonio Small Business Development Center and with the Center’s Business Advisor, Larry New, several times before starting her business. Together, they worked on business entity formation, created the LLC, sales tax and self-employment issues.

Nataliya was quoted saying, “Larry has been instrumental in the process of planning and setting up my business. Being able to bounce ideas off of him is so helpful! He also put me in contact with the International Trade Center, who provided me with valuable advice on importing and shipping. I’m so grateful for the guidance I’ve received!”

While working with UTSA Small Business Development Center Nataliya was able to start her business and form one full time job. We are proud to be a part of Drift Home Collection’s success!

Find the UTSA Small Business Development Center at 940 W. San Antonio Street in New Braunfels and call Larry at 830-214-6435.
